Carla, 4 years old, is one of 4 children. Her father abandoned her, and her mother earns about $4/day hand washing clothes for people. Carla had surgery to remove her adenoids, which has caused problems for several years! |

He had a tumor on the right side of his face that had been slowly growing for 20 years. He is a truck driver and was delivering vegatables to Santa Cruz. A man in the market saw his tumor and told him about Mission of Hope. |

Piedades, pictured here with Dr. Gross, is a 59 year old mother of 10 children. About 4 years ago, a tumor started growing inside of her cheek. Surgery was not even a consideration because she did not have any money. She had a beautiful surgery without any damage to her face. |

Ronny, 8 years old, was born with only one ear. His mom does not work, and his dad works as a laborer. Using cartilage from his rib and tissue from his thigh, doctors made an ear! |

Ana, 33 years old, is a single mom with 4 children. She lives with a friend in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Santa Cruz. She earns about $7/day guarding parked cars. Ana came to the Mission of Hope clinic with very large and infected tonsils. Ana was very happy to have her tonsils out. |

Juan, 50 years old, had his nose broken while playing soccer three years ago. Two years later he was assaulted and his nose was further disfigured and he was unable to breathe. He is a single dad with two young children. He was unable to get a job because of the way his nose looked. He was no longer able to support his two kids and they were taken away from him. Someone on the street saw him and told him about Mission of Hope. The reason he wanted his surgery was not to be able to breathe better, but to get his kids back. After his surgery, when he saw how straight his nose looked, he said everything he went through was worth it. |
